The main idea of the project is to supplement the diversity of different urban planning principles and architectural styles intertwined in the existing historical environment with a new Annex, which would give the whole complex integrity and new architectural-artistic value.
The annex is designed as a three-volume composition - the four-storey part forms the perimeter of K. Kalinauskas Street, the irregular part of the irregularly shaped volume raised on the columns is composed in the southern part of the plot and thus preserves the . This highlights the Old Building and creates a seamless section of the perimeter of Pylimo Street.
The part of the plot at the main entrance to the Central Building is redesigned according to the principles of universal design so as to create convenient access for patients to the building, a safe place for their disembarkation, and rational access to the staff car storage. At the same time, a cozy recreation area is formed and several large valuable trees are preserved at Pylimo Street.
