The Marenta office building is located in an old part of Vilnius called Žvėrynas. It is a distinctive area with private houses and wooden villas, which used to be on the outskirts of the city. As the Marenta building is situated on the crossroads of two main streets, its three-storey volume functions as a defining feature. Because of its round-cornered triangular plan and its location, it is exposed from every angle. The carefully shaped volume contrasts clearly with its irregular surroundings, although its architecture also matches them perfectly, something which is achieved by a simple compositional instrument: facades divided into unequal planes that are joined by horizontal steel profiles between the storeys. The overall expression of the Marenta building allows us to engage in a dialogue with the disorderly character of the area, while still preserving its architectural dignity.
