Wind-blown dunes and rustic fishermens' houses form the image of the ancient Curonian Spit in Lithuanian mind. Therefore, the functions indicated in the competition programme were placed in separate spaces: an information centre, cafe and exhibition hall were to be located in fishermen houses, and the universal 500-seat hall with a stage was installed under the ‘dune’ - a dune-shaped green roof. The three fishermen houses and the dune falling over them are symbols of the village of Agila which was buried under sand. The top of the dune is accessed by a wooden pathway typical of seaside resorts: climbing up Agila dune could become a new tourist ritual, complementing other tourist traditions, and making a new place to visit.
